What Are These "Little Noirs" All About?

These little worlds are about resilience. Each scene captures the aftermath of a catastrophe -- earthquake, fire, hurricane, or war. Inside each globe are bits of post-catastrophic flotsam -- a tilted, burned-out house, blackened furniture & tiny, lovely artifacts of normal life -- a newspaper, a clothesline, a parked car, a box of graham crackers. Center stage in each of these dark, precarious worlds is a little doll. These babies are beautiful survivors, going about their business with blithe disregard of the ruin around them.

These snow globes are minus the water & minus the snow.
